Maximum Flexibility and Diversity

  • Number of Characters: 79

  • Number of Voices: 393

  • Number of Languages for Voice: 59

  • Number of Countries for Voice: 294

NOTE: This is the BETA version of Colossyan's API.

  • This beta version has limitations and does not work as dynamically as we anticipate the next version to work.

    • Voice Errors: Some voices appear to be available but are not so you may encounter an error message, or sometimes load/streaming times are longer than normal (and will greatly depend on the length of your script).

    • Generation Issues: You may encounter times when their API service has a hiccup and all of your Colossyan avatars are not generating or you get an error…we are finding it often resolves itself if you can pause and try again a bit later …this Beta integration is a bit more prone to this than when using the other Synthesia avatars. We don't always know what is going on for them but will always communicate interruptions when we know.

    • Loading Speeds: Colossyan videos are high quality and it can take time to stream/play the video after creation if bandwidth is not strong. You may notice that due to the quality and file size, Colossyan videos take longer than Synthesia's videos to load and stream/play. We hope this will be optimized for quicker loading in future versions.

Our team is actively working to optimize this beta integration and future versions! When Colossyan releases their v1 API integration we will upgrade to that version - timing TBD.

How to improve your script for the best text-to-speech results

Use paragraphs

  • Breaking down your script into multiple paragraphs instead of a single one offers several advantages, including faster video generation and improved precision in animation and subtitle timings.

    • Tip: Each paragraph has a 900-character or 3000-character limit based on the voice you selected.

  • For best results, always use punctuation at the end of sentences, and do not use dashes or any other symbol that’s not a comma, a dot, an exclamation mark, or a question mark.

Use emphasis

  • Periods (.) will add a long break and downward inflection; this makes them great for ending scenes or chapters!

    • Tip: If your sentence ends with a number make sure to spell the number out to avoid an upward inflection. 1990 ➡️ nineteen ninety

  • Commas (,) will add shorter breaks than a period. Use commas when you want to emphasize a specific word or part of the sentence without adding too much length or inflection.

  • Quotation marks ("") will add emphasis to a specific word or part of the sentence. The quantitation marks when you want to highlight a specific part of your script.

  • NOTE: Inserting code breaks will result in an error generating your avatar!

Do not mix languages

  • Do not include words from more than 2 different languages in one script.

Are the Avatar integrations in Studio the same as Synthesia and Colossyan's stand-alone tools?

  • Both services are fully integrated into SimGate Studio (through an API integration) which allows you to generate and edit the avatars within our platform - there is no need to leave our suite to generate videos and then re-upload them!

  • There are some differences between what Synthesia and Colossyan offer via their API integrations versus their direct subscription offerings in the stand-alone tools (which we have no control over!). However, you'll find there is a lot of flexibility and customization options within our tool, in addition to the fully integrated experience.
