The metrics report provides an overview of learner performance across each metric within a project for a single session.
Purpose
This report in the SimGate Dashboard empowers L&D administrators and facilitators to:
Visualize Learner Performance
Display each metric in its own bar chart to clearly break down and analyze learner scores per session.Refine Data Views
Filter the Metrics Report by project, session, round, and metric to focus on specific data and gain deeper insights.
Key Learner Insights from This Report
Performance Distribution Across Metrics
View how learners performed by comparing Metric Scores (Normalized), helping you spot strengths and improvement areas.
Learner Distribution by Performance
Analyze how many learners achieved specific scores within each metric to uncover performance patterns (e.g., top performers, struggling learners, etc).
Skill Gaps & Learning Trends
Identify potential skill gaps if certain metrics consistently show lower scores or recognize strengths when metrics show high, consistent performance.
Learning Effectiveness
Assess the impact of your learning experience—high scores indicate success, while widely distributed or lower scores may point to areas needing refinement.
Report Configuration Settings
ATTENTION! For sessions to appear in the report, the project's scoring model must be properly configured to enable data calculation and display scores.
If the project settings are not correctly configured, the report will not be supported, and user data for the course will not be calculated or shown.
VIDEO: Steps to Configure
Watch the video below to learn how to configure the metrics in Studio to enable the Metrics Report:
DIY STEPS
In Studio, authors must preselect the metrics to include in the report. This can be done by configuring the metrics directly within the Scoring Model or through the project Dashboard Settings under “Reported Metrics”.
Setting up metrics for the report from the Scoring Model:
Click Scoring Model in the top navigation bar in Studio.
When you Add a Metric or Edit a Metric you will see a checkbox that adds the metric to the dashboard report - check the box for each metric that you want added to this dashboard report.
REMINDER: If you have updated or added metrics to a project, make sure you re-publish your project so these metrics can be applied to future sessions.
Setting up metrics for the report in the project Dashboard Settings:
In Studio, click Settings in the top navigation bar.
In the left navigation panel, click Dashboard to access it's project settings.
From the Dashboard Settings, select the metrics you want to display in the Metrics report on the admin dashboard.
By default NO metrics show up in the metrics report. The author must select which metrics show up in the metrics report.
‼️ Seeing an Error Message? Or Missing Data?
‼️ Seeing an Error Message? Or Missing Data?
Error: Must Choose a Session
This report supports only one session at a time. If no session is selected, an error message will appear prompting you to choose one session.
Use the session dropdown to select a session and view the data.
Error: Participant Data Not Displaying
Only completed participants are displayed in the report.
If a participant is still in progress, their data will not be represented on the report.
Additionally, user data from old sessions may not be calculated and displayed if these settings were not configured correctly before a user finished the course.
Error: Incorrect Configuration
If the dashboard settings have not been configured correctly, you will see an error to contact a project administrator to preselect the metrics.

Viewing and Understanding Your Metrics Report
Once a course is deployed and participants have completed it, L&D administrators and facilitators can access this report via the SimGate Dashboard.
Understanding Bar Chart Data
Metric Titles: The names of the metrics from the project's unique Scoring Model
Metric Scores (Normalized): The x-axis represents the metric with the largest range and applies it to all metric charts.
Normalized metrics allow you to compare skills and competencies on the same scale, highlighting which areas show the highest or lowest performance.
Number of Learners: The y-axis represents the total number of learners (from a session) who completed the learning experience.
Customizable Metrics Report Filters
Project filters limit the charts to sessions within the chosen projects.
Region filters refine the charts to sessions from the selected regions.
Round filters (exclusive to this report) allow users to view scores for specific rounds.
Metric filters (exclusive to this report) enable users to focus on selected metrics.
NOTE: Filters are interconnected. For example, selecting a project will update the session filter to show only sessions within that project.
The Refresh button updates the data in the chart.
A timestamp next to the Refresh button shows when the data was last updated.
The Download button allows users to export and download data as an Excel file.
FAQ
I added metrics, but why are they not showing up on the Metrics Report in the dashboard?
If you update or add metrics to a project, be sure to re-publish it to ensure the new metrics are applied to future sessions.
Why is the report showing empty?
Be sure the metrics have been setup and selected on the Studio side.
Why is a session not being shown in the report?
The session may not be shown in the report due to improper configurations in the project. The settings in the project must be completed as shown in the How To page, in order for the report to be displayed accurately.
Why does the session data look inaccurate? A user’s scoring looks inaccurate from what was configured for the session.
The reporting API is new and therefore there may be inconsistencies in the calculations of the metric scores. This may be due to several scenarios, all involving a project update. For example, a project is set up with a scoring metric and users have completed the course in older sessions. Then, the scoring metric has since been updated to include more values. The report uses the latest project settings, so the data displayed for these older sessions are now calculating scores on the new changes in the project. While this is rare, there may be several sessions affected by such updates to a project setting. Please contact us if this a problem for the affected sessions.
My session says that nine users are registered, but the report says there are ten participants?
This may be due to a user being deleted from the session after they have completed the course. The reporting will still calculate and score the user data from that user and display it alongside active users.
