How To: Add Closed Captioning CC To Your Courses
Updated over a week ago

SimGate Studio now supports Closed Captioning CC via a .vtt file.

WebVTT (.vtt) is one of the most popular caption and subtitle file formats. WebVTT stands for “Web Video Text Tracks” and the file format is compatible with almost all major online video players, social media platforms, and video editors that accept caption files.

To add Closed Captioning CC via a .vtt file:

  1. Upload your video to a site that creates a .vtt file.

    1. For example, rev.com is one service, however, a quick Google search will recommend many tools.

    2. You can also manually create a .vtt file using Notepad. If using a service, once you upload your video, your .vtt file will be processed, and when complete you download the file and save it locally.

  2. Go to SimGate Studio, add a video or AI video, and then click edit.

  3. Once in the edit menu, click the “+” to upload or add your video.

  4. Then, in the closed captions section, click the “+” to add your .vtt file.

  5. To have your Closed Captions show default, select the Show Closed Captions slider.

  6. Save your edits and the video with closed captions will be complete.
