As a content creator, you can create a learning experience that is engaging, effective, and easy to manage and deploy. This document is used to identify activities in your project.

Before you proceed, you need the following:

  • A confirmed learning need

  • The desired skills, behaviors, and mindsets of your target learner

  • Approved learning objectives

  • A high-level design and/or sim experience flow

When designing content for a simulation, consider the following:

Meaningful content. Content should challenge the learner, but it needs to be the right balance. Too challenging causes cognitive overload, yet not challenging enough, and the participants will check out.

Mindfulness. Include places where the learner can reflect. Reflection allows the opportunity for the learner to come to self-generated insights.

Succinct content. It is important to consider word counts to ensure there isn’t too much vertical scrolling. Too much scrolling can be annoying and distract the learner.

Diverse activities. Use the right mix of activities so that the learner stays engaged, but do not include so many different activities that the learner is distracted or confused and, therefore, cannot focus on the content.
