Step 2: Build with a Pre-Built Template
Now it’s time to create your learning experience!
You'll start with the "Interactive E-Learning" Starter Flow Template to:
Fast-track design & prototyping – Build experiential learning efficiently while gaining confidence.
Focus on SimGate functionality – Explore the tool’s capabilities without design distractions.
Learn from strong examples – See effective interactive learning in action.
🔹 Structural Design of Your Starter Flow
The "Interactive E-Learning" Starter Flow is a topic-agnostic template designed to guide an engaging asynchronous learner experience, featuring a single round with diverse activity templates.

🔹 Duplicate your Starter Flow Template
Log in to SimGate Portal:
In a Chrome or Edge browser, use your Login and PW to access SimGate PORTAL via your unique enterprise URL.
Once logged in, follow the below steps to duplicate the Starter Flow Template project that you will use to build your prototype.
In Portal, Navigate to your project Enterprise Projects Folder
Open the folder named: #1 - Getting Started
Duplicate the "KNOWLEDGE OR SKILL-BUILDING STARTER" Template. (Blue cover photo)
Duplicate the project into your personal “My Projects” folder
Check out this video to learn how to duplicate a project: Get Started: Duplicate a Sim Flow Template
⚠️ Friendly Warning! Please DO NOT skip this duplication step and use the original Starter Flow project in your enterprise Onboarding folder to complete this module! That is the master copy that all onboarding participants need to use. If you make any changes to it, it will change the master version and could impact your colleagues's ability to successfully complete the module.
5. Rename it. To avoid confusion, always rename duplicated projects immediately!
6. Open your project in Studio.
Your Project is now ready to be customized!
👀 NOTICE: The pages and activities in these sim flows have built-in prompts to support your design efforts but are intentionally left blank of content so that you can customize them as you see fit!
Step 3: Customize the key "building blocks" of your project!
This is your chance to begin to sharpen your design and development skills and set the stage for future projects using SimGate. This experience is all about getting hands-on, having fun while experimenting, and making meaningful progress toward your design and development goals.
💡TIP - Building Your Prototype: A Practical Approach
To streamline your build, consider a recent project you're familiar with—one where you understand the audience and themes. Using this as a reference will help guide your design choices and modifications.
Here are the types of updates we're asking you to do for this prototype:
✅ Adapt the wireflow to match your vision – Start with a fully built structure and make it your own.
✅ Create placeholder content – Align it with the page or activity types to ensure a cohesive learning experience.
✅ Modify activities and pages – Design realistic challenges and meaningful choices.
✅ Personalize the experience – Add assets, avatars, videos, or other media.
✅ Customize branched feedback – Tailor responses based on learner choices for a more dynamic experience.
🔹 Bonus Challenge: Swap out a page or activity to further refine and tailor your learning journey beyond the default structure!
🔹 Open your duplicated project in Studio to start your customizations!
Now that you’ve duplicated the Starter Wireflow, you have the essential building blocks of a 1-round project—ready for your customizations! And, use the built-in prompts within each page of the Starter Flow to guide your updates.
🔹 Minimum Prototype Success Criteria
To ensure you explore SimGate’s full potential and demonstrate basic tool proficiency, your prototype should meet the following minimum requirements. It doesn’t need to be fully polished—placeholder content is fine—but it should clearly communicate your vision and design intentions while showcasing key SimGate features.
🔹 Required Modifications
Push Your Creativity—But Meet These Guidelines to Maximize Your Learning!

📧 Final step: Sharing your Project + Evaluation Meeting
Why do I have to share my project prototype?
We ask you to share it with us to see and celebrate what you've created, begin to understand your vision, supporting modifications, and how you implemented features to support those learning goals SO THAT we can support you in accomplishing YOUR goals with SimGate and design.
How do I share my project prototype with Regis and Peers?
To share with Regis: Generate a "Reviewer Link" - you may recall using this feature in Module 4!
Email your link to [email protected] before the final session so that we can review.
Finish these sentences in the body of your email:
One thing that worked really well when creating my prototype was....
One thing that was really challenging when creating my prototype was....
I estimate (guesstimate!!) that it took me approximately _____ hours to complete my Module 5 project prototype.
🌟 BONUS: Sharing with a Peer(s) is optional, but we highly encourage it! So much personal learning and a deeper understanding result from feedback :)
Planning for the Final Group Meeting: Celebration of Success + Self-Evaluation
We believe that reflecting on your work solidifies lessons learned from the project! Your final live, virtual session will be a celebration of your new skills, sharing your experience, and conducting a self-evaluation of your project.
The loose agenda for the Success Meetings is:
